Hastie Coating & Cylinder Testing Services was formed in 2006 to continue a business started by Bernard Hastie & Company Limited (established 1887).
The Company’s facilities are based near the centre of Swansea and offer the following services and much more:
Grit Blasting
Grit blasting is the process in which an abrasive material is forced through a jet nozzle using compressed air pressure. This creates a fast and effective way of cleaning or preparing surfaces for recoating using many different material types.
Thermal Metal Spraying with Zinc or Aluminium
We can flame or arc spray, using most often zinc or aluminium, but we can provide other metal coatings by request. This is an anti- corrosion layer but does need to be sealed. Zinc metal spray can provide a long life coating lasting up to at least 25 years and will protect up to temperatures of 200°C. Aluminium metal spraying is superior to zinc as it can withstand temperatures up to 400°C and is ideal for metal which is exposed to sub-sea or saline conditions.
Industrial and Contract Painting
We offer a professional & reliable contract or industrial painting service to protect metal areas and objects from bad weather and corrosion. Our operatives are fully trained in the latest methods and use airless spray guns to coat surfaces of any size. This system allows us to cover a large surface with thick protective coatings used for industrial environments efficiently. Before paint can be applied, the surface needs to be prepared thoroughly to allow the paint to coat the surfaces.
Our industrial painting skills are always improving and allow us to carry out anti corrosion painting, painting gas cylinders and much more to help protect the metal surfaces for many years & keep them looking clean and like new.
Powder Coating - with Large Box Oven
Powder coating looks like paint but acts like armour. It’s tough, durable, easy maintenance and good looking, and comes in a wide range of colours and finishes, and it’s environmentally friendly too. The process involves electrostatically charged grinded particles of resins & other raw materials being sprayed onto the objects that need to be coated. The objects to be coated need to be electrically grounded so that the particles will stick to them, fusing together, then put in a coating oven which will result in a very high quality finish. We will powder coat any metal objects from statuettes to garage doors. We offer other types of coating for metal surfaces such as anti graffiti coatings to prevent graffiti from damaging the surfaces.
Gas Cylinder Testing
As well as our other services we also offer a professional gas cylinder testing & refurbishment service to ensure that each gas cylinder is able to keep its pressure and ensure it performs to all standards. We have the facilities to test any type of cylinder including, LP gas, butane, propane and refrigerant gas.
